Fees and Rebates
At True North Psychology, we believe in providing an affordable service for clients with competitive fees. The current Australian Psychological Society (APS) and Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi) recommended fee is $300 per standard consultation (50+ minutes). The full APS recommended fee schedule can be located here, and AAPI recommended fee schedule here. You are able to access our services without a referral, in these circumstances the full fee will apply. Rebates and Funding Options
Medicare Rebates
With a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) referral from your GP, psychiatrist or pediatrician you will be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
If you are seeking treatment for an eating disorder, a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist may be able to assess your eligibility for an Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP). This referral allows you to receive Medicare rebates for up to 40 psychology sessions over a 12 month period (with valid GP and Psychiatrist reviews). The EDMP also allows for 20 dietetic sessions.
For all Medicare services, you are required to pay the full fee at the time of the appointment and are then refunded a partial rebate through Medicare. Your out-of-pocket expense is the difference between the Psychologist fee and Medicare rebate.
More information about Medicare rebates can be found here
Please bring a copy of your MHTP or EDMP paperwork to your appointment, or email or fax it in advance to:

Private Health
Some private health insurers cover some of the cost of psychological services. Your insurer can provide you with personalised advice based on your level of cover. Private health insurance cannot be used in conjunction with Medicare services.
NDIS, Workcover, DVA, Other 3rd party payers
True North Psychology has psychologists who deliver psychological services that can be funded by third parties, such as NDIS, Workcover and DVA.
All of our psychologists can provide psychological services to self-managed NDIS clients, or plan-managed NDIS clients who are willing to pay the psychologist’s session fee. As our psychologists are not registered providers under the NDIA, we cannot provide services via this funding model.
Some of our psychologists are registered to provide psychological services under Workcover and DVA. For further information regarding which psychologists provide services funded by third parties, and associated session fees, please contact us directly on (07) 3856 0004.
Some of our psychologists are able to provide services under ComCare funding arrangements. These sessions are $225.63 per 50 minute session.
Cancellation Policy
True North Psychology requires 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. You may call our clinic at any time including after hours, as we do have an answering service that allows you to leave a message. The 24 hours notice will be taken into account from the time of the call. Where clinically appropriate, our psychologists may be able to offer a telehealth appointment as a means to help you attend your appointment.
Where less than 24 hours’ notice is given for a cancellation/reschedule, or where a client does not attend a scheduled appointment, the full session fee will be collected on the day of the scheduled appointment via stored credit card details.
This cancellation policy assists us to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic, and to offer any available appointments to clients on the psychologist’s waiting list.
If you would like to proceed with booking an appointment or would like any further information please get in touch.
