Dr. Pablo Navarro

Clinical and Counselling Psychologist

 

Pablo (He/They) is a Counselling Psychologist and Clinical Psychosexual Therapist with more than 15 years’ experience working with adults and young people of all abilities and identities. He has worked in areas such as family services, employment assistance, LGBTQIA+ advocacy, chronic illness management, digital mental health, clinical education, and private practice.

In his counselling psychology practice, Pablo takes a collaborative, intentional and focused approach to working with clients towards their personal goals and will tailor his approach to your unique needs – drawing from evidence-based therapies, such as: cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused counselling, and humanistic therapy. As part of this process, he practices feedback-informed therapy and will regularly check in to see if you’re finding your session helpful to ensure you feel understood, respected, and that your sessions are relevant and on track.

Pablo enjoys working with older adolescents and adults of all abilities and identities in a number of areas, including:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety, panic attacks and phobias

  • Obsessive-compulsive syndromes

  • Posttraumatic stress

  • Grief, loss and adjustment to life changes

  • Chronic pain and illness

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Interpersonal and relationship problems 

  • Neurodivergence (e.g., Autism, ADHD)

In his sex therapy practice, Pablo is a sex-positive, kink, poly, neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ knowledgeable practitioner and works with individuals across a variety of areas, such as:

  • Sex, gender and sexuality education

  • Relationship diversity (e.g. polyamory, ethical non monogamy)

  • Internalised sexual shame, disgust, and discrimination

  • Sex following chronic illness or loss of ability

  • Gender role strain

  • Sexual intimacy and communication

  • Sexual function

  • Sex-related ‘addiction’

  • Sexual and gender identity affirmation

Pablo is also a board accredited STAP supervisor and enjoys supporting and supervising the practice of other clinicians; both trainee and experienced.

 

He is available to supervise 5+1 students as a primary supervisor; psychologists completing their registrar as a secondary supervisor; or any other psychologists as part of their continuing professional development.

 

Pablo has  PhD in Clinical Psychology and has written several journal articles in the area of e-mental health and lifestyle articles in the area of sex therapy.

 

Pablo is primarily available for appointments via Telehealth on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Limited in-person appointments are available on Thursday afternoons.
